Laughter Yoga Academy Ireland is ideally located in a tranquil setting in the North Co.Cork hinterland.
Nestled amongst the picturesque foothills of the Nagle Mountains in the Blackwater valley.
Just 10 minutes west of Fermoy, 20 minutes east of Mallow, and 35 minutes north of Cork City.
What is Laughter Yoga ?
Laughter Yoga is not a comedy, although when practiced with correct techniques, it can very quickly become contageous !
Developed in 1995 by Cardiologist Dr Madan Kataria of India, and his wife, Yoga Teacher Maduri Kataria as a form of exercise to promote good health by reducing stress, Laughter Yoga combines a series of laughter exercises with carefully selected selection of mind-calming deep breathing techniques from the ancient practice of Yoga, to create an effective and unique exercise program to develop and promote a healthy mind so you can:
- reduce stress
- boost your immune system
- keep your mind positive
Laughter Yoga is based on the science that the body cannot differentiate between simulated and genuine laughter, so the physiological and psychological benefits are the same.
Laughing for no reason is the main philosophy of Laughter Yoga.

Laughter Yoga for Everyone
1 Day Laughter Yoga Basic Learning Course
The first step in your Laughter Yoga journey is to complete the 1-day Basic Learning Foundation Course, this training will teach you how to practise Laughter Yoga, for improved health and longevity, and to help you to live a more joyful and positive life.
You will discover how to laugh for no reason at any time you wish, even in your most challenging times, including why this is so beneficial for your health and longevity.
This inspiring 1-day training is for everyone – there are no pre-requisites. The 1-day Basic Learning Founation Course is held at our Training Centre in North Co.Cork approximately every 3 months, and may also be scheduled on demand.
On completion of the 1-day Basic Learning Foundation Course you are eligible to progress to further study for the 2-day Certified Laughter Yoga Leader Training and registration as an International Laughter Yoga Professional with Laughter Yoga International by Dr. Madan Kataria, Founder of Laughter Yoga.
The 1-day basic learning course is for everyone, either for personal interest for non-professional use, or for professional study towards your Laughter Yoga Leader certification.

On conclusion of the 1-Day Basic Foundation Course you will be qualified and certified to start Community Laughter Clubs.

Laughter Yoga Professional Certification
2 day Laughter Yoga Leader Course
This is the training you need to work professionally and charge a fee for your services as a Laughter Yoga professional.
The designated Study Pathway to becoming a Certified Laughter Yoga Professional consists of 2 days training:
- 1-day Laughter Yoga Basic Learning Course
- 1-day Laughter Yoga Leader Certification Add-On
This inspiring 2-day training is held 4 times a year and also on demand. We need a minimum of three people for the course to go ahead, so ask your friends and colleagues to join you!
There is no requirement to complete the 2-day Laughter Yoga Leader training in 2 consecutive days. You may choose to complete Day 2 at a later date if that works better for you. In fact many people choose to complete their Laughter Yoga professional training in that way.
By training with us here at Laughter Yoga Academy, you will be Registered with Laughter Yoga International as an International Laughter Yoga Leader for 6 months, including a listing on the worldwide directory of Laughter Yoga Professionals. You can renew your international registration annually.
On conclusion of 2 days Laughter Yoga Leader training, you will have the additional Certification to lead Laughter Yoga sessions as a Laughter Yoga Professional and charge a professional fee for your services.
